Back with another Starbucks Secret Menu review for y’all. Today’s choice of drinks are the Red Velvet Frappuccino and the Cookie Dough Frappuccino.

Here are the recipes for them…

Red Velvet Frappuccino:

  • Start with a Tuxedo Frappuccino (1/2 white mocha, 1/2 regular mocha frappuccino)
  • Add raspberry syrup (1 pump for tall, 2 pumps for grande, 3 pumps for venti)

Cookie Dough Frappuccino:

  • Start with a Cinnamon Dolce Creme Frappuccino
  • Add mocha syrup (1 pump for tall, 2 pumps for grande, 3 pumps for venti)
  • Java chips blended in
  • (optional) Top with cookie crumble and chocolate whip

I didn’t buy any of these for myself because I ended up buying the Caramel Cold Brew Frappuccino from last Starbucks Secret Menu review (it has become my new favorite and cant get enough of it!). Although they weren’t for me, I did take little sips of both of them before handing them out to my brothers.

First of all, in the Starbucks Secret Menu website, they show the Red Velvet Frappuccino being red….Ours was definitely not red. It was such a disappointment! Anyways…I could only taste a little of the raspberry syrup but the general Tuxedo Frappuccino over powered any taste of the syrup that it had. It made the raspberry syrup an uninvited guest in the Frappuccino. It honestly didn’t taste like red velvet. Maybe a chocolate cake with a thin layer of raspberry filling but it was definitely no red velvet cake. I feel like there should have been way more ingredients than just a Tuxedo Frappuccino and a pump of raspberry syrup. I  think maybe if we would have started with a Strawberry and Creme Frappuccino and then added a pump of mocha syrup with a pump of raspberry syrup then it would have had the color of the red velvet and perhaps the taste of it. I am not a barista so don’t take my word for it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The Cookie Dough Frappuccino was another slight disappointment. I think it might perhaps been the creme base that was used of simply the barista didn’t do a good job on it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. It has happened to me before where I ordered a Caramel Frappuccino and it turns out tasting very bland and with no little to no hint of the caramel syrup. That’s what happened to this Cookie Dough Frappuccino; The Cinnamon Dolce Creme Frappucino part of the recipe didnt have that cinnamon kick that the Cinnamon Dolce Frappuccino usually has. Again, could be the Creme part or just the barista. Because of the bland simple taste of it, the frappuccino didn’t taste like cookie dough at all. The java chips that were blended in over powered the whole drink. Perhaps a pump of caramel syrup might have helped instead of the mocha syrup but I’m not too sure.

In conclusion, this day was not the best for Starbucks Secret Menu. Both of the chosen drinks lacked the taste that was intended and fell short from my expectations.

Red Velvet Frappuccino Rating: 3.5/5 ★★★☆☆

Cookie Dough Frappuccino Rating: 2.5/5 ★★☆☆☆
